DistroKid alternatives: what to use if you want something different
People usually look for a DistroKid alternative for one reason, not ten. Start with what you want to change, because each alternative gives something up in exchange.
Updated November 2, 2026
Short answer
The best DistroKid alternative depends on what you want to change. For a lower yearly price, Ditto Music starts at $19. For no yearly fee, CD Baby charges once per release and RouteNote has a free option. For SoundCloud on the store list, look at Amuse, Ditto Music or RouteNote. For music that stays up if you stop paying, look at Amuse, LANDR or RouteNote, each of which takes a cut.
What to do, in order
Name the one thing you want to change
Price, store coverage, your own codes or what happens if you stop paying. Each one points to different services.
Check what you'd give up
DistroKid lists 100% earnings, a free Audiomack opt-in and removal alerts on Ultimate. Check any alternative against the ones you use.
Check your codes before you move
DistroKid doesn't let you bring a custom UPC, and some alternatives don't either. Keep a list of the UPC and ISRCs for every release you are moving.
Keep the old release up until the new one is live
Don't take the old upload down until the new one is live on every platform.
Alternatives by what you want
Prices are in US dollars and are the lowest listed for each service.
| If you want | Look at | The trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| A lower yearly price | Ditto Music, $19 a year | Content ID is on Pro and Labels only, and Ditto can't use an existing UPC |
| No yearly fee | CD Baby, $9.99 per single or $14.99 per album once | CD Baby takes 9% of streaming and downloads |
| Free distribution | RouteNote Free | RouteNote takes 15% |
| SoundCloud on the store list | Amuse, Ditto Music or RouteNote | RouteNote reviews a SoundCloud profile link before monetizing |
| Music stays up if you stop paying | Amuse, LANDR or RouteNote | Each takes a cut after you stop paying |
| Your own UPC | TuneCore Professional, RouteNote, UnitedMasters or Symphonic | Conditions vary, so check each company's rule for your release |
| A monthly price | Too Lost, $2.99 a month or $19.99 a year | Check the full store list on its own site |
What you'd want to keep from DistroKid
Before you leave, check what your DistroKid plan already gives you.
- It lists 100% of earnings on every plan.
- Audiomack is a free opt-in if you link an account.
- On Ultimate, Artist Profile Alerts emails you about changes on Spotify and Apple Music.
- Leave a Legacy keeps a release up after cancelling, for $29 per single or $49 per album once.
Moving your music safely
Keep the same ISRC for each recording when the new service allows it. Keep the old release up until the new one is live, because a gap can leave you missing from a store. Some services say an existing UPC can't be used, and DistroKid's own rule on custom UPCs applies to anything you move to it.
How Traxure helps
Traxure is not a distributor, and it works with whichever one you pick. If you have DistroKid Ultimate, Artist Profile Alerts already covers Spotify and Apple Music. Traxure checks your Spotify profile every 12 hours and your full catalog every day, and it also checks Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, TIDAL, SoundCloud and Pandora. It confirms a change with a second check, then emails you the before, the after and a note to your distributor ready to send. If you switch, Move Guard gives you your UPC, ISRCs and release details for the new distributor and tells you when it's safe to take the old upload down. Monitoring starts with a seven-day free trial.
Prices, store lists and terms were checked on each company's own pages on 2 November 2026. They change, so check before you decide.
Questions artists ask
Is there a free alternative to DistroKid?
RouteNote has a free option where you keep 85%. UnitedMasters DEBUT is free but doesn't include distribution, and Amuse lets you prepare a release free but needs a plan to distribute it.
Which DistroKid alternative delivers to SoundCloud?
Amuse, Ditto Music and RouteNote list it. Symphonic and Too Lost offer it as an opt-in, and UnitedMasters by request on paid plans.
Will I lose my streams if I switch?
Keeping the same ISRC is what helps a store recognize the same recording, so check that the new service accepts your existing ISRCs. Keep the old release up until the new one is live.
Can I use two distributors?
You can use different distributors for different releases. Don't deliver the same release through two at once unless you are moving it, because it can create duplicates.
